Animal orgs recruiting for jobs of every stripe

It’s not every day that one sees 22 paid positions open simultaneously at a conservation-focused nonprofit, particularly during difficult economic times, but that’s exactly what you’ll find today on the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) web site. (Just to put this in perspective, the World Wildlife Fund has only 7 positions open right now and the National Widlife Federation has only 2.) Positions are based in Washington, DC and/or various parts of Africa and run the gamut from grants management to donor research to marketing/communications to program officers to field researchers to drivers…an oasis of diverse opportunities in a relatively sparse employment landscape.

But just in case that’s not enough variety for you, the Wildlife Conservation Society, headquartered in the Bronx (NY), is currently looking to fill 32 paid positions.

If your heart lies closer to companion animals, there are other opportunities — the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), headquartered in Manhattan and my new employer as of last month, is hiring for *drum roll* 42 paid positions! And I can personally attest to the fact that it’s a great place to work. 🙂

For those seeking jobs at animal-related organizations, this should hopefully come as encouraging news and perhaps offer a glimmer of hope for brighter economic times ahead.
