Battening Down the Hatches by Getting Fundraising Right

In the wake of devastating floods in Colorado, and in the midst of hurricane season with the one-year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy fast approaching, disaster preparedness and response are on the minds of many in the animal sheltering community. Greater numbers of organizations now understand the necessity of making advance preparations to minimize the impact of disasters on animals and physical infrastructure. My most recent ASPCA blog post offers some resources to assist in a more subtle, yet critically important facet of disaster preparedness: safeguarding your organization’s financial infrastructure, which a disaster can also put at serious risk. The post also includes information about the ASPCA’s Equine Fundraising Education Program, accepting grant applications through October 31, 2013.
